Backstory: Created in 1993, Mountainlands Community Housing Trust (MCHT) has developed 253 apartments and 40 homes. MCHT provides its Housing Resource Center to assist the resort-oriented workforce in locating affordable rentals, roommates, and other housing needs. Its transitional housing programs provides nine units and casework for temporarily homeless residents of the community. MCHT currently provides stewardship for 168 restricted affordable homes, some of which are in MCHT’s care and some of which are monitored via contract for local municipalities. It also has a contract with Summit County to assist developers in meeting their affordable housing obligations under recently passed inclusionary zoning code changes.
Plans: In the first year of the CHIP, MCHT’s work plan focused on updating its plain language summaries of its ground lease and deed restriction, as well as forging stronger relationships with potential partners and banks within the community.
